A clear and supporting legal and regulatory framework is a main building block of enabling and accelerating energy transition on EU islands. In the past two years the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat has been engaging with local, regional and national stakeholders in member states with the inhabited islands to understand existing regulatory framework, barriers to clean energy transition of the islands and to together with stakeholders propose recommendations for overcoming them. Specifically this work has focused on seven member states: Croatia, Greece, Estonia, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Sweden.
